Murder

An 85-year-old man was kidnapped and brutally tortured in Bahawalpur, Punjab, while his son living abroad was forced to witness the horrifying ordeal through a live video call.

The incident occurred in Chak 19, falling under the jurisdiction of Qaimpur Police Station. Authorities reported that Hafeez Sajid, the elderly victim, was abducted at gunpoint by a local influential man known as Asif Don, along with his accomplices, from a nearby market.

Police said the abductors took Mr Sajid to a private property where he was severely beaten. Despite losing consciousness multiple times, the torture continued after he was revived. In a disturbing twist, the attackers called his son in Malaysia and showed the torture live on a video call. Reports said the son was left in shock and helpless as the accused mocked him and dared him to save his father.

Following the circulation of the video clip on social media, police launched an immediate operation. A case was filed, and the main suspect, Asif Don, along with other individuals involved, was taken into custody.

Officials said the investigation is ongoing and further arrests may follow.

Meanwhile, the elderly victim, who is recovering from his injuries, has appealed for justice. He urged authorities to ensure the culprits receive the strictest punishment under the law.
