Islamabad police have launched a major crackdown on unlicensed motorcyclists as the grace period officially ended. On the first day, 532 motorcycles and 60 vehicles were detained at local stations while 24 cases were registered against violators.

According to police officials, over 2,200 tickets were issued for different traffic violations. More than 1,100 motorcyclists faced fines, including 405 for not wearing helmets and 34 for riding without licences. Ninety riders were penalised for lane violations, while 426 were booked for red light jumps and using illegal number plates.
Officials added that 99 underage drivers were also fined, along with others for faults such as missing indicators and windscreens. Riders carrying extra passengers and those using heavy silencers were also targeted during the drive.

Police said the campaign will continue across the capital to ensure road safety and discipline, urging citizens to obtain licences and follow traffic rules to avoid penalties.
