A Rawalpindi court has sentenced a former postmaster to 29 years of rigorous imprisonment for corruption involving millions of rupees in pension funds.
The convict, Hamid Jaleel, was also ordered to pay a fine of over Rs 2 million and return Rs 21.5 million to the Pakistan Post Department.
The case was initiated in 2022 after the Anti-Corruption Circle in Islamabad found irregularities in pension savings accounts under Jaleel’s supervision.

The Federal Investigation Agency reported that he had fraudulently recorded transactions worth more than Rs 25.2 million. These manipulations were allegedly carried out while he held a key position in the department.
The court’s judgment is seen as part of a broader crackdown on public sector corruption.
