District authorities have declared a local holiday on October 1 to commemorate the Urs of Sufi saint and poet Hazrat Khawaja Ghulam Farid.
DC Khurram Pervez confirmed through an official notification that government and semi-government offices across the district will remain closed during the celebrations.
The annual Urs attracts thousands of devotees nationwide who gather for spiritual gatherings and events paying tribute to Khawaja Ghulam Farid and his poetic legacy.

Earlier in Sheikhupura, local authorities announced a holiday on September 24 for the 228th Urs of celebrated Sufi poet Syed Waris Shah.
Deputy Commissioner Shahid Imran Marth said all district government offices were closed to facilitate celebrations and ensure smooth participation of devotees in rituals.
Both holidays highlight the enduring cultural importance of Sufi traditions, which continue to inspire spiritual gatherings and community celebrations across different regions.
