The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife Department generated over $1.9 million this year after auctioning 39 trophy hunting permits for Markhor, Ibex, and Grey Coral.

Record revenue of $1,913,842, highlighting interest among international hunters, particularly after the first-ever introduction of Grey Coral hunting permits in the province.

Special Assistant for Wildlife Pir Musawar Khan explained that the inclusion of Grey Coral alongside Markhor and Ibex would diversify hunting opportunities.

He added that trophy hunting funds are directed toward wildlife protection, habitat improvement, and community development projects in the surrounding villages.

Meanwhile, the department recently permitted conditional hunting of Russian doves until October 31, fixing the fee at Rs25 per bird under issued guidelines.

Authorities clarified that hunting would only be allowed three days per week, with hunters restricted to eight birds, while violations would attract Rs5,000 fines.

In a separate announcement, the department banned hunting across 57 lakes, rivers, ponds, and barrages until December 2025, warning strict penalties for unauthorized activities.

The new rules also prohibit the use of electronic devices and call birds, restricting hunters to a maximum daily catch of five waterfowl.

Additional licensing requirements include Rs1,500 per year for duck hunting dogs and Rs500 per day for hunters using specialized duck hunting guns.
