Justice in Question After Kasur Drug Party Scandal

A Punjab police station house officer (SHO) has been suspended after leading a raid on a suspected drug and dance party in Kasur’s Mustafaabad area, where all 55 detainees were released within hours—prompting public outrage and calls for accountability.

According to sources, the raid occurred at a remote farmhouse following repeated complaints about loud music, drug use, and what officials described as “obscene activities.”

Police arrested more than four dozen individuals and confiscated drugs, alcohol, and other illegal substances during the late-night operation.

Footage from the raid quickly spread on social media, showing scenes of partygoers being rounded up in what appeared to be a professional and well-organised police response.

However, the SHO who led the operation was suspended shortly after, reportedly under pressure from politically influential figures. The swift release of all detainees has drawn criticism and raised serious concerns about elite interference in Punjab’s justice system.

Human rights activists and concerned citizens described the incident as a “mockery of law enforcement,” questioning why those involved in unlawful activities were freed so easily, while the officer enforcing the law was punished.
