Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the launch of a new rail car project to connect Islamabad and Rawalpindi, calling it a public welfare step that will make travel easier for residents of the twin cities and nearby areas. The decision was announced during the groundbreaking ceremony of the T-Chowk Flyover.

The prime minister directed Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi to start work on the project without delay.
He said the railway track needed for the service is already in place, which will allow the project to be completed quickly. Once operational, the rail car service will not only improve daily commuting but also provide convenience to tourists visiting the region. The prime minister also assured full support from the federal government for the initiative.

At the same event, Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the T-Chowk Flyover, a Rs. 1.4 billion project at the intersection of Islamabad Expressway and G.T. Road. The flyover is expected to be completed within 150 days and aims to improve traffic flow for people traveling in and around Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
