The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has declared Wednesday, August 13, 2025, a local holiday across the revenue limits of the federal capital. The announcement was made through an official notification issued by District Magistrate Irfan Nawaz Memon on Tuesday.
The order stated that the holiday would apply to all government and private offices within Islamabad, except for those providing essential services.
Organisations that will remain operational include the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI), Capital Development Authority (CDA), ICT Administration, ICT Police, Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), and hospitals.
The notification also instructed all relevant ministries, departments, and authorities to inform their staff about the holiday and ensure the public is made aware through press and broadcast channels.
While the administration has not specified the reason for declaring the local holiday, it will be followed immediately by the national public holiday on August 14 for Pakistan’s Independence Day. This will give residents of the capital two consecutive days off in the middle of the week.
