The Lahore High Court has ordered Pakistan’s opposition leader, Imran Khan, to appear before it regarding a case relating to protests outside the Election Commission of Pakistan.
During the hearing, Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh noted that Imran’s signatures on the affidavit attached with the petition were different from those on the power of attorney, warning of the possibility of issuing a contempt notice. Imran has been recovering from an assassination attempt that occurred when he was marching on Islamabad.
Yesterday, an anti-terrorism court in Islamabad rejected Imran’s request for an
extension in his interim bail in a case relating to violent protests outside the ECP. Imran had
requested interim protective bail in Lahore.
