The Provincial Ombudsman of Sindh has ordered the dismissal of K-Electric’s Chief Executive Officer, Monis Alvi, after finding him guilty of harassing the company’s former Chief Marketing Officer, Mahreen Zahra. The decision includes a penalty of Rs. 2.5 million and directives for further legal action in case of non-compliance.
According to Dawn News, Justice (R) Shah Nawaz Tariq, who issued the ruling, said the harassment complaint was proven, and the CEO had caused psychological distress to the complainant. The order includes the seizure of Alvi’s movable and immovable assets, and the blocking of his national identity card and passport if the fine is not paid within one month.
The harassment complaint was initially filed by Zahra, who served as a consultant for K-Electric in 2019. The Ombudsman noted that despite being in a position of power, Alvi failed to maintain a respectful professional environment.

Following the ruling, Alvi expressed disappointment through a statement posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). He said that while he respects the legal system, the decision does not reflect his experience or intentions. He added that the verdict has been personally painful and that he plans to challenge it through legal channels.
Alvi thanked his colleagues and supporters, reiterating his commitment to upholding professional values and workplace dignity. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that all individuals feel heard and respected.
It is worth noting that earlier this month, K-Electric’s Board of Directors had reappointed Alvi as CEO, effective July 30, 2025. Alvi has served in various senior roles at the company since 2008, including Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary.
