Two labourers died in Hanjarwal on Saturday after eating food from a roadside cart. Police said the men, identified as Arshad and Sajjad, had purchased dahi bhallay from a vendor in the area. Shortly after eating, both collapsed and were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.

The bodies were moved to the morgue for postmortem examination to determine the cause of death. However, the families of the deceased later requested the police not to register a case. Authorities are continuing their inquiry into the incident.
Residents of Hanjarwal expressed shock over the sudden deaths, raising concerns about the safety and hygiene of food being sold on roadside carts. Many locals said such stalls are common in the area and attract daily wage earners looking for affordable meals, but there is little to no regulation or quality checks by authorities.

Police officials stated that while no case has been registered due to the families’ request, the matter has highlighted the need for stricter monitoring of street food vendors. They added that food safety teams may be asked to inspect similar stalls in the area to prevent further tragedies.
