The federal government has introduced a cost sharing scheme for electric bikes and loader rickshaws, aiming to expand cleaner transport options across Pakistan.
Under the plan, 116,000 e-bikes and 3,170 e-rickshaw loaders will be distributed nationwide during the fiscal year 2025-26 in two structured phases.
The first phase covers 40,000 e-bikes and 1,000 loaders, while the second will include 76,000 e-bikes and 2,170 loaders for citizens.
A quota system reserves 25 percent of e-bikes for women, with additional allocations for courier workers and 30 percent of loaders for fleets.

Applicants must hold a valid CNIC, with eligibility ranging from 18 to 65 years for bikes and 21 to 65 years for loaders.
The government will provide subsidies of up to Rs50,000 per e-bike and Rs200,000 per loader, making loans affordable under an 80:20 structure.
Loans will be interest-free, with repayment periods of two years for e-bikes and three years for loaders, covering only principal and insurance installments.
The scheme will operate through a digital lending platform integrated with banks, while shortlisted vendors will ensure timely delivery and reliable after-sales services.
