The federal government has announced major relief measures in electricity bills for families affected by recent floods. Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain said several charges will be removed for flood-hit households, including general sales tax, FC surcharge, fixed charges, and fuel price adjustment.

Proposals also cover the waiver of income tax, surplus taxes, and retailer sales tax on electricity bills.
The minister added that provincial authorities will also waive land revenue, and efforts will be made to correct the extra bills already issued in flood-affected areas.
Alongside this, the government has introduced a farmers’ package to cover losses from crop and livestock damage. A survey of flood-hit regions will be completed in 10 days, with initial data already collected.

According to the findings, rice has been the most damaged crop, especially in the Gujranwala division, where up to 18 percent of fields have been affected. Other crops faced losses of one to three percent.
Officials say these steps are aimed at easing the financial burden of flood victims and supporting farmers in rebuilding their livelihoods.
