Eidul Azha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of the two most significant Islamic festivals. It commemorates the unwavering faith of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.), who was prepared to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah’s command.
A central ritual of the festival is Qurbani, or the sacrifice of animals such as cows, goats, sheep, or camels, performed in accordance with Islamic principles. The meat is distributed among family, friends, and those in need, reflecting the values of compassion, sharing, and spiritual devotion.
With the government-sanctioned long weekend, travel and community gatherings are expected to increase across the country, as families prepare to mark the festival in traditional and meaningful ways.
