In a bid to streamline governance, the federal government has abolished 11,877 vacant positions across various ministries and divisions.

According to the details, the development, aimed at right-sizing administrative operations, affects posts ranging from Grade 1 to 22.

According to the Establishment Division, 11,764 positions from Grade 1 to 18 have been removed, while 113 posts from Grade 19 to 22 have also been eliminated.

The restructuring is part of the broader initiative of the PML-led government to enhance efficiency and reduce redundant roles.

The decision follows the approval of federal cabinet in August 2024 to abolish 60 percent of all vacant permanent positions in government departments.
