The federal government has approved re-gasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) connections for households nationwide and announced the official fee structure. The Petroleum Division confirmed the new framework after approval by the federal cabinet.
According to the notification, the supply of indigenous natural gas for new consumers has been permanently banned. Nearly three million pending applications for conventional gas connections will also be cancelled. Only RLNG will now be offered to new domestic consumers.
Under the new policy, the security deposit for an RLNG connection has been fixed at Rs20,000. Service charges will be Rs1,500 for houses up to 10 marlas and Rs3,000 for larger properties. This means that the total cost of a connection will be Rs21,500 for most standard households and Rs23,000 for bigger ones.

Applicants will also have the option to fast-track the process by paying an “urgent fee.” These urgent connections are expected to be installed within three months. However, the tariff of RLNG will be 70 percent higher compared to conventional gas.
The Petroleum Division has directed Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) to implement the new system. Both companies will be able to provide RLNG connections to up to 50 percent of applicants annually under this framework.
