Parts of Karachi were jolted by another earthquake on Tuesday morning, causing fear among residents. This was the 11th tremor reported in just two days, raising concerns about continuing seismic activity in the area.

The National Seismological Center confirmed that the quake occurred around 7:45am with a magnitude of 3.2. Its epicentre was said to be located southwest of Korangi, which has seen repeated shocks since late Sunday night.

People living in Landhi, Korangi, and nearby areas rushed out of their homes after feeling the ground shake. Some residents noticed cracks in the walls of buildings. Many families, especially the elderly and children, gathered in parks and open spaces. Local mosques were heard broadcasting Azans, a traditional response during such emergencies.

The repeated tremors—four of which were recorded on Sunday—have caused growing concern, particularly in Landhi, where the frequency has been unusually high over the past 48 hours.

Chief Meteorologist Amir Haider Leghari explained that the fault line beneath Landhi is currently active. However, he said that the situation does not suggest an immediate major threat. He mentioned that mild tremors might continue in Karachi over the next week.

No injuries or major damage have been officially reported. Still, locals expressed frustration over the absence of public safety measures in crowded neighbourhoods.

Seismologists have urged people to remain alert and follow safety guidelines. Despite the growing concern, the government has yet to release any formal advisory or start public awareness efforts.
