Eid-ul-Adha

Pakistanis are expected to enjoy a three-day break in June 2025 on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, according to the official calendar released by the Cabinet Division.

The notification, dated 23 December 2024, confirmed that public holidays will be observed on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday—coinciding with 7, 8, and 9 June 2025. Since the festival begins over a weekend, many people working in government offices are likely to benefit from an extended holiday.

This schedule was shared as part of the federal government’s annual list of public holidays for the coming year.

Meanwhile, experts at the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) have indicated that the new moon of Zil Hajj is expected to be born on the morning of Tuesday, 27 May 2025. However, they stated that the moon’s age at sunset will be under 12 hours—too young to be seen, even with telescopes.

Given these conditions, SUPARCO suggested that the moon would not be visible anywhere in Pakistan on that evening. As a result, the first day of Zil Hajj is likely to be Thursday, 29 May, making Eid-ul-Adha expected on Saturday, 7 June 2025.
