Eidul Adha is anticipated to be celebrated across Pakistan on Friday, June 7, according to astronomers who predict that the moon marking the beginning of Zilhaj will likely be sighted on May 28.
Renowned Pakistani astronomer Dr Faheem Hashmi explained that the new moon will be only 11 hours old at sunset on May 27, making it impossible to be seen with the naked eye.

“However,” Dr Hashmi stated, “by May 28, the moon will be over 35 hours old, significantly increasing its visibility across the country.” He added that these astronomical conditions point toward the Islamic month of Zilhaj beginning on May 29, with Eidul Adha falling on the 10th day, i.e., June 7.
Eidul Adha, one of the two major Islamic festivals, honors the devotion of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) who showed his willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah’s command.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will make the official announcement regarding the moon sighting, based on testimonies from across the country.
