The Islamabad district administration has imposed a two-month ban on the use of drones and camcopters in the federal capital under Section 144, citing security concerns.

A notification issued on Tuesday stated that the restriction applies to all unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) except those operated by law enforcement agencies or the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration. Officials said the decision was taken to address potential threats posed by drones to sensitive installations and public gatherings.

The district magistrate noted that UAVs could be misused for activities that might compromise security and public safety. The ban, described as an urgent preventive measure, aims to maintain law and order in the city.

Authorities have warned that anyone found violating the order will face legal action under the relevant laws. The administration has also urged the public to cooperate with the restrictions to help ensure safety.

Similar bans have been imposed in the past during high-profile events or heightened security situations in Islamabad, reflecting ongoing concerns over the misuse of aerial technology.
