Journalist Khalid Jamil was arrested on Friday evening by the National Cyber Crimes Investigation Agency (NCCIA) from his residence in Media Town, Islamabad.
In a brief statement, the agency confirmed the arrest, saying it was carried out after the “completion of official procedures,” with further details to be shared later. Sources indicated that a case had been registered against Jamil earlier this year, though no specifics were disclosed.

Reports of his arrest quickly spread on social media. Fellow journalist Asad Ali Toor posted on X that Jamil had been picked up by FIA and NCCIA officials. Khalid Yousuf Chaudry, a lawyer representing PTI founder Imran Khan, also shared a video showing officials escorting Jamil into a white car. He claimed no warrant was presented at the time of the arrest.
This is not Jamil’s first detention. In September 2023, he was arrested by the FIA under Section 505 of the Pakistan Penal Code for allegedly spreading anti-state narratives online. He was later released on bail after a week in custody.
