National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has initiated legal action against individuals accused of promoting anti-state sentiments through social media. The agency has filed formal complaints against five people, alleging they were involved in spreading false and provocative content aimed at state institutions.

The individuals named in the cases include Adeel Raja, Moeed Pirzada, Muhammad Umar, Nazir Butt, and Ahmed Noorani. Authorities claim the suspects shared misleading narratives, especially during periods of heightened Pakistan-India tensions, and continued to circulate such material to stir unrest.

According to the official reports, the content allegedly posted by the suspects was designed to create confusion and undermine trust in national institutions. The NCCIA has made it clear that those found guilty of targeting the state or attempting to incite disorder online will face strict consequences under cyber laws.

The agency has also appealed to the public to assist in identifying others engaged in similar online activities. Citizens have been encouraged to send screenshots, links, and other relevant information through WhatsApp to help track individuals involved in harmful digital propaganda.

Officials noted that the rise of misinformation and coordinated campaigns online poses a serious threat to national stability and public trust. They stressed the importance of responsible use of digital platforms and reaffirmed their commitment to countering online abuse of freedom of speech.

The crackdown is seen as part of a broader effort by authorities to control digital spaces and ensure that social media is not used to spread discord or target the country’s institutions.
