Court Report Claims Imran Khan’s Vision Worsened in Jail

Islamabad: A court-appointed lawyer has claimed that former Prime Minister Imran Khan has lost most of the vision in his right eye while in jail. According to the report, he now has only 15 percent vision in that eye.

The claim was made by Barrister Salman Safdar, who was appointed by the Supreme Court as amicus curiae, or friend of the court. He met Khan on February 10 and spent about two hours with him. He also inspected the jail facility before submitting a seven-page report to the court on Wednesday.

In his report, Safdar said that the 73 year old leader’s health has become worse during his time in prison. Khan has been jailed since August 2023 and is facing many legal cases. The report says he suffered serious vision loss in the past three months.

It is stated that Khan repeatedly complained about blurred and hazy vision in his right eye. However, the report claims that jail authorities did not take action on these complaints for three months. During that time, Abdul Ghafoor Anjum was serving as jail superintendent. He was transferred in mid-January.

A medical report dated February 6, 2026, later diagnosed Khan with “right central retinal vein occlusion,” a serious eye condition. This illness can cause sudden and major loss of vision if not treated quickly.

The report also raised concerns about Khan’s isolation and overall health while in custody. These new claims have added more debate around his imprisonment.

The court is expected to review the findings and decide on further steps regarding his medical care and prison conditions.
