Former first lady and the wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, has filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court, challenging the alleged illegal marriage case against her. The petition seeks to annul the decision of the sessions court judge, passed on January 11, and dismiss the case, which she has described as ‘malicious’.

Bushra Bibi has urged the court to issue a stay order on the trial court proceedings and dismiss the complaint filed by her ex-husband, Khawar Manika, whom she accuses of making false allegations of marriage during iddat based on fake and forged documents. She clarified that she was divorced by Manika on November 14, 2017, and then moved to her mother’s place until her marriage to Imran on January 1, 2018. The petition also cited legal precedents and urged the court to dismiss the complaint against her.
