Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has appointed Bilal bin Saqib as his Special Assistant on Crypto and Blockchain, according to an official notification issued by the Prime Minister’s Office on Monday. The appointment is significant as it marks the first time the federal government has created a dedicated role focusing on cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. Bilal bin Saqib will serve with the status of a Minister of State.

Currently, Bilal bin Saqib also serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Pakistan Crypto Council, an organization committed to promoting the integration of blockchain and cryptocurrency in Pakistan’s financial and administrative systems.

Over the years, he has emerged as a vocal advocate for developing a regulatory framework that supports digital innovation while ensuring investor confidence and consumer protection.
