A gang of fraudsters is on the loose in the city, targeting citizens through ATM scams and looting cash, cards, and mobile phones. The most serious case was reported outside an HBL branch on Millat Road, where three men posing as bank staff tricked a NADRA employee into handing over her card and PIN, later withdrawing Rs151,805 from her account.

Police said the suspects switched her card inside the booth before carrying out the theft. Similar incidents have been reported in multiple areas across the district, including Madina Town, Lathani Pull, Samundri’s Circular Road, Kashmir Pull, Gurunanakpura, and Tandlianwala. Victims lost money, phones, and ATM cards in each case.
Among those targeted were Mansoor in Gatwala, Nasir Ahmed at Lathani Pull, Siddique Ahmed in Samundri, Imran near Kashmir Pull, Dilshad Ahmed in Gurunanakpura, and Ali Husnain in Tandlianwala. Each was deceived by fraudsters using similar tricks.

Police have registered several cases under Section 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code and launched a search operation to arrest the gang members. Authorities have urged citizens to stay vigilant while using ATMs and report any suspicious activity immediately.
