Cricket South Africa (CSA) has confirmed that middle-order batter Aiden Markram is fit for selection ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025 semi-final against New Zealand.

Markram had walked off the field with hamstring discomfort during South Africa’s final group-stage match against England on Saturday, where he was also serving as stand-in captain in place of Temba Bavuma.

In his absence, Heinrich Klaasen took over leadership duties.

The injury update was announced during the 31st over of England’s innings, and CSA responded by calling up spin-bowling all-rounder George Linde as a precaution.

However, CSA has now confirmed that Markram has passed his fitness test and is available for the crucial semi-final at Gaddafi Stadium on Wednesday.

South Africa, having remained unbeaten throughout the group stage, secured their semi-final spot with a series of strong performances.

They began the tournament with a comprehensive 107-run win over Afghanistan, followed by a rain-affected match against Australia.

Their final group-stage fixture against England ensured their semi-final berth, with a comfortable seven-wicket victory while chasing 180.
