YouTuber Iqra Kanwal Under Investigation for Alleged Gambling App Promotion

The legal troubles surrounding popular YouTuber Iqra Kanwal and her husband Areeb Pervaiz have taken a new turn, as the court continues to hear a case related to the alleged promotion of online gambling apps. The matter has gained strong public attention, especially among social media users, as it raises serious questions about influencer responsibility and digital content regulations in Pakistan.

The case is currently being investigated by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA). According to the latest update, the Lahore High Court has extended Iqra Kanwal’s interim bail until April 23, 2026. The court made this decision after hearing arguments and reviewing the progress of the investigation.

During the hearing, officials informed the court that forensic analysis of digital evidence is still in progress. The court is now waiting for these reports before moving forward with the case. Meanwhile, both Iqra Kanwal and Areeb Pervaiz have appeared before the court and recorded their statements. They have denied the allegations, stating that the claims are based on misunderstandings and assumptions. The couple has also assured full cooperation with the investigation process.

The NCCIA requested more time to complete its inquiry, which the court accepted. As a result, the interim bail has been extended to allow investigators to gather complete evidence and present a detailed report.

This case revolves around accusations that certain social media personalities promoted illegal online betting and gambling applications through their platforms. Authorities are currently investigating multiple influencers in similar cases, signaling a broader crackdown on unlawful online promotions.

In earlier hearings, other YouTubers such as Rajab Butt were also granted interim bail in related cases. Some proceedings faced delays due to the absence of investigation officials, after which courts directed authorities to ensure timely attendance in future hearings.

The next hearing is expected after the forensic reports are submitted, which will play a key role in determining the direction of the case.
