Shopkeeper Arrested for Playing Loud Music in Punjab

In Phul Nagar, Punjab, a shopkeeper was arrested after he played Madam Noor Jahan’s classic song “Vekh Ve Din Chardiya Ke Nahi” loudly in his shop, disturbing nearby residents and people passing by.

According to police officials, Sadar Pattoki Police received several complaints from citizens about loud music coming from a market area. When officers arrived at the scene, they found that the shopkeeper had his music system turned up very high, causing noise disturbance in the neighborhood.

The police immediately took action. The shopkeeper was arrested on the spot, and a case was registered under the Punjab Sound Systems (Regulation) Act, 2015.

This law was created to control and regulate the use of loudspeakers and sound systems in Punjab. It helps prevent public nuisance and maintain peace and order in public areas. Under the Act, there are strict limits on sound volume, timing, and equipment use, and anyone who breaks these rules can face fines or imprisonment.

Officials said that such actions are necessary to protect citizens from unnecessary noise, especially in busy markets and residential areas. “No one has the right to disturb others with loud music, no matter how popular the song is,” one officer stated.

The incident has sparked discussion on social media, with many users debating whether playing a famous song should lead to arrest. However, authorities emphasize that the issue is not the song itself but the violation of noise laws.

As the case continues, police have urged the public to be mindful of sound levels and respect community peace reminding everyone that enjoyment should never come at the cost of others’ comfort.
