Fourteen Killed as Truck Overturns in Sargodha’s Kot Momin Area

A tragic road accident in the Gulpur area of Tehsil Kot Momin, Sargodha, has left fourteen people dead and nine others injured. The incident occurred when a truck overturned, crushing passengers traveling inside.

Fourteen people died at the scene, while nine sustained injuries. Among the injured, three are reported to be in critical condition and were rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent treatment.

Rescue teams reached the site shortly after the accident and began emergency operations. Several victims were trapped under the overturned truck. After hours of effort, rescuers recovered more bodies from beneath the vehicle, confirming the final death toll at fourteen.

All the victims belonged to the same family from the Khanuana area of Faisalabad. The family was traveling together and had been returning home after attending the funeral of a close relative in Islamabad.

The accident caused deep grief in the local community. Residents gathered at the scene as rescue work continued, while police secured the area and redirected traffic to avoid further danger.

Authorities have started an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. Initial reports suggest that overspeeding or loss of control may have led to the truck overturning, though officials say a full inquiry is underway.

The tragic incident has once again raised concerns about road safety and the condition of highways in the region. Local officials urged drivers to follow traffic rules and avoid reckless driving to prevent such heartbreaking accidents in the future.
