Renowned Urdu poet Tahir Faraz passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026, in Mumbai. His death has deeply saddened the literary world, leaving poets, writers, artists, and fans in grief.
Tahir Faraz was born on 29 June 1953 in Budaun, Uttar Pradesh. He completed his M.A. in Urdu from Rohilkhand University and went on to become one of the most respected voices in classical Urdu poetry.
He was known for his powerful verses that beautifully mixed romance with social awareness. His poetry touched hearts across generations and borders. Tahir Faraz was also a well-known face in international mushairas, where his calm presence and deep words always left a strong impact.
