Aftab Shaban Mirani, a respected and senior leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), passed away on November 1, 2025. His death marks the end of a long and dedicated political journey that spanned decades of service to Pakistan.
Mirani served in several key positions during his career. He was the 18th Chief Minister of Sindh in the 1990s, where he worked for the development and stability of the province. Later, he became Minister of Defence of Pakistan from October 19, 1993, to November 5, 1996, playing an important role in shaping the country’s defense policies.
He was also elected as a Member of the National Assembly multiple times, most recently serving from August 2018 to August 2023. Throughout his career, he remained loyal to the Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians, working under its vision of democracy and public welfare.
Aftab Shaban Mirani will be remembered as a committed public servant, a humble politician, and a man who devoted his life to the betterment of Pakistan. His contributions and leadership will continue to inspire generations to come.
