Dengue cases are steadily increasing in Rawalpindi, with 12 new patients admitted in a single day to Holy Family Hospital, Benazir Bhutto Hospital, and Rawalpindi Teaching Hospital. The three facilities now host 60 patients, including 36 confirmed cases.
Residents from areas such as Tench Bhatta, Dhoke Munshee, Dhamial, and Khadiot have been most affected. Health experts warn the spread could worsen if timely measures are not taken.
During a review meeting, Commissioner Aamir Khattak instructed officials to intensify sweeping operations in 13 high-risk union councils. He said, “The rainfall and current temperatures create perfect breeding conditions for dengue mosquitoes, and strict action is required to prevent further escalation.”

The meeting brought together key health and administrative officials, including Deputy Commissioner Attock Atif and senior health officers. They discussed targeted action in hotspots and pledged community engagement.
Health authorities have stressed the importance of household-level vigilance. They advised families to cover water containers, keep surroundings clean, and immediately report suspected cases to nearby hospitals.
Despite ongoing campaigns, experts caution that dengue prevention requires continuous effort from both government departments and citizens alike.
