Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has introduced a new healthcare initiative aimed at helping children diagnosed with type-I diabetes. The “CM Insulin for Diabetes” program will provide insulin and related supplies free of cost to young patients across the province.

To mark the launch on Monday, the chief minister personally visited the homes of several children affected by the condition. Accompanied by Pakistan Post riders, she delivered insulin kits that included glucometers, test strips, insulin pens, and needles.

Officials said the program is part of the government’s broader ‘Sehatmand Punjab’ plan, which seeks to improve access to essential healthcare for underprivileged families. The chief minister told parents that she understood the emotional and financial strain they face, noting that many struggle to afford the life-saving medicine.

She said that for the first time, children are being given a full diabetes management kit, rather than just insulin. The program’s first phase will support 1,500 children, with Pakistan Post handling home deliveries through a specially designed cold chain to preserve the medication.

Riders have been trained to verify insulin cards through a mobile app before handing over a three-month supply to each family.
