The Peshawar Institute of Cardiology has warned that it may suspend services under the Health Card program from October 1 if outstanding dues remain unpaid.
As per the details, hospital management has formally notified State Life Insurance, which oversees the scheme, that unpaid liabilities now stand at nearly Rs1.5 billion.
Officials revealed that delays in payments have already disrupted essential supplies of medicines and equipment, creating significant challenges for patient care at the facility.
They cautioned that continuation of services will not be possible unless pending payments are cleared promptly, leaving many patients at risk of losing coverage.
The crisis stems largely from State Life Insurance, which has not cleared dues despite repeated reminders, intensifying pressure on hospital finances.

Matters have been further complicated by the provincial government, which has withheld Rs12 billion allocated for the program, worsening the financial deadlock.
Health department officials admitted the payment bottleneck but said efforts are underway to resolve the issue and sustain healthcare services under the scheme.
Earlier this year, KP government launched the Jwandoon OPD Card, introducing free outpatient services for underprivileged citizens for the first time in provincial history.
The scheme was inaugurated by provincial Health Advisor Ihtisham Ali during a ceremony at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Takht Bhai in Mardan district.
Senior officials including Dr Riaz Tanoli, CEO Sehat Sahulat Program, Dr Shoaib, DHO Mardan, and Dr Nabi Jan of the Insaf Doctors Forum attended the event.
