New research has shown that goat’s milk may provide more advantages than cow’s milk when it comes to improving muscle health and reducing inflammation, especially among ageing individuals.

The findings, shared on a medical research platform, came from a study that explored how different types of milk affect mice suffering from sarcopenia — a condition linked to age-related muscle decline.

Mice in the study were fed daily doses of various milk types. Those that received goat’s milk, particularly the low-fat version with added vitamin D and calcium, showed significant improvements in muscle strength and overall physical performance. Their muscle tissues were stronger, and signs of inflammation were considerably lower.

The study also indicated that goat’s milk helped promote healthier gut bacteria and contributed to a reduction in body fat. These factors are believed to play a key role in supporting mobility and strength in older age.

Researchers found that while cow’s milk did offer some health gains, the results were more consistent and effective in the group that consumed goat’s milk. This suggests that goat milk’s unique composition may make it better suited for age-related physical conditions.

Experts say that goat milk naturally contains nutrients that aid in muscle recovery, strengthen bones, and improve immunity. Its lower fat content and rich supply of calcium and vitamin D make it an appealing option for elderly individuals or those looking to support their physical health.
