President Asif Ali Zardari has paid tribute to radio professionals on World Radio Day, calling radio a powerful and trusted source of information for millions of people. In his special message on the occasion, he extended greetings to broadcasters, technicians, producers, and listeners in Pakistan and around the world.
He said radio has played a unique role for more than a century by informing, educating, and connecting people across cultures and regions. According to the president, radio remains a companion in daily life because people can listen to it while working, traveling, or relaxing. It does not demand full attention, yet it keeps people updated.
Speaking about this year’s theme, he highlighted the link between radio and artificial intelligence (AI). He said new technologies can support broadcasters if used carefully and responsibly. AI can help improve production, audience feedback, research, and public service delivery. However, he stressed that the human voice and editorial integrity remain the true strength of radio.
The president also spoke about the importance of Radio Pakistan in the country’s history. Since independence, Radio Pakistan has shared trusted news, promoted cultural heritage, and represented the diversity of languages across the nation. Today, it broadcasts in 26 languages, reaching remote communities where other technologies may not be available.
He noted that even in the digital era, radio continues to grow. While television viewership is declining in many parts of the world, radio is gaining popularity again, especially among young audiences like Gen Z. With online streaming and social media, radio has expanded its reach while keeping its personal touch.
President Zardari said radio remains a symbol of trust and unity. He wished continued success to all radio professionals for their valuable service to society.
