Islamabad is set to receive a significant tourism upgrade, with plans underway for a modern theme park, a Ferris wheel, and a cable car system. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has approved consultancy services for feasibility studies and design work for all three projects, signalling a major push to expand the capital’s recreational offerings.
According to CDA officials, these developments aim to address the growing demand for entertainment options as the city’s population rises. Islamabad, known for its scenic beauty and location at the foot of the Margalla Hills, has long been a popular destination for both domestic and international visitors. Authorities believe these attractions could further strengthen its appeal.

The consultancy budget allocations reflect the scale of ambition: Rs. 206 million has been set aside for the theme park, Rs. 61.8 million for the Ferris wheel, and Rs. 197.76 million for the proposed cable car system. The selected consultants will be responsible for preparing detailed project designs and evaluating their feasibility within a six-month timeframe.
Officials noted that the final decision to proceed with construction will be based on the results of these studies and subsequent approvals.
If approved, the initiatives could transform Islamabad into a more vibrant tourist hub, offering new experiences for families and visitors while contributing to the city’s economy.
