In an effort to provide the people of Sindh with state-of-the-art transportation facilities, the provincial government has announced plans to revamp the transport system on modern lines. The announcement was made by Sindh Minister for Information and Transport, Sharjeel Memon, during a press conference held in Karachi on Wednesday.
Addressing the audience, Minister Memon highlighted the government’s commitment to improving the transport system in Sindh. One of the key measures discussed was the removal of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) kits from school vans to prioritize the safety of students. This decision reflects the government’s dedication to ensuring a secure and reliable transportation experience for young learners.
Minister Memon also revealed plans to establish a dedicated transport department force, inspired by the motorway police model. This specialized force will be responsible for enforcing relevant rules and regulations in both the public and private transport sectors. By implementing stricter measures and enhancing monitoring mechanisms, the government aims to enhance safety standards and improve overall transport efficiency.
Expanding on the success of the Peoples Bus service in Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana, and Sukkur, Minister Memon announced the extension of this service to additional districts of the province. Shikarpur and Mirpur Khas are among the districts that will soon benefit from the reliable and affordable transportation options provided by the Peoples Bus service. This expansion is a testament to the government’s commitment to making transportation accessible to people residing in various parts of the province.
To meet the increasing transport demands of the people, the government has proposed the purchase of five hundred additional buses in the upcoming budget for the next financial year. This allocation of funds underscores the government’s dedication to fulfilling the transportation needs of the population and improving overall connectivity within the province.
The plans unveiled by the Sindh government reflect a comprehensive approach toward transforming the transport system in the province. By modernizing infrastructure, ensuring safety standards, and expanding service coverage, the government aims to enhance the overall quality of transportation for its citizens. These initiatives are expected to have a positive impact on various aspects of daily life, such as reducing travel time, increasing accessibility, and improving the overall efficiency of the transport system.
As the government moves forward with its ambitious plans, it is crucial to prioritize effective implementation and monitoring mechanisms. Regular assessments, feedback mechanisms, and continuous improvements will be essential in ensuring the successful realization of these initiatives. The Sindh government’s commitment to investing in a modern transport system demonstrates its dedication to enhancing the lives of its citizens by providing efficient and reliable transportation options.
