Sindh Announces Holiday on February 4 for Shab-i-Barat

The Sindh government has announced a public holiday for all schools and colleges across the province on February 4 in observance of Shab-i-Barat. The decision applies to both public and private educational institutions.

The announcement was shared through an official notification issued by the Sindh School Education and Literacy Department. The Sindh Information Department later posted the notification on the social media platform X to inform the public.

According to the notification, all educational institutions operating under the administrative control of the School Education and Literacy Department will remain closed on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. The holiday has been declared to mark Shab-i-Barat, which falls on the 15th of Shaban in the Islamic calendar.

Shab-i-Barat is a religious night observed by Muslims across the country. On this night, people offer special prayers, seek forgiveness, and remember their loved ones. Many families also visit graveyards and spend time in worship.

The announcement has been welcomed by students, parents, and teachers, as it allows families to observe the religious occasion peacefully. Schools and colleges are expected to resume their regular schedules the following day.

Educational institutions have to follow the official notification and ensure that students and staff are informed in advance. Parents are also encouraged to plan accordingly.

With this decision, the Sindh government has joined other provinces that often announce holidays to facilitate religious observances. The move reflects respect for religious traditions and aims to provide ease to the public during important occasions.
