Pakistan has once again strongly rejected India’s claims over Jammu and Kashmir, saying the region has never been and will never be a part of India. The statement was made during a United Nations session in New York, where Pakistan responded to remarks by the Indian representative.
Speaking at the forum, Pakistan’s Consul to the United Nations, Gul Qaiser Sarwani, said that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognised disputed territory. He reminded the audience that India had made commitments in the past to allow the people of Kashmir to decide their own future through the right to self-determination. According to him, more than eight decades have passed, but those promises remain unfulfilled.
Sarwani warned that the long-running Kashmir dispute continues to be a serious threat to peace and stability in South Asia. He said lasting peace in the region is not possible without resolving the issue in line with United Nations resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
The Pakistani diplomat also made strong allegations against India, accusing it of sponsoring cross-border terrorism. He claimed that New Delhi has supported banned militant groups such as Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, Fitna al-Khawarij, and the Balochistan Liberation Army. According to Sarwani, India has been linked to violence and targeted killings not only in the region but also in other parts of the world, including North America.
Referring to what he described as India’s aggressive behavior, Sarwani said India has repeatedly taken actions against Pakistan that violate international law and the United Nations Charter. He urged India to immediately stop what he called state-sponsored terrorism.
Pakistan called on the international community to take notice of these issues and hold India accountable. The envoy stressed that global efforts are needed to promote peace, justice, and respect for international laws in South Asia.
