The Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme has extended its registration deadline from May 20 to June 1, 2025, offering students another chance to apply for the government-funded digital empowerment programme.

Officials confirmed the extension is part of the broader Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, aimed at enhancing digital literacy and promoting smart education across Pakistan. The move is expected to benefit students who missed the earlier deadline, as interest in the scheme continues to grow.

Since the extension announcement, application traffic has surged, with thousands of students submitting forms to secure a free laptop.

According to government criteria, only students enrolled in recognised public sector universities are eligible. This includes those studying in PhD, MS/MPhil, Master’s, or Bachelor’s programmes. Applicants must meet academic thresholds — a minimum CGPA of 2.80 or 60% marks. First-year undergraduates must provide HSSC results, while early-semester MS/PhD students must submit transcripts from previous degrees.

The scheme includes a quota system to ensure fair distribution, with 18% of laptops reserved for Balochistan-based students and 5% allocated to distance learners.

To register, eligible students can apply via the Prime Minister’s Digital Youth Hub (DYH) mobile app or the official website: www.pmyp.gov.pk. The extended deadline now gives applicants more time to take part in this initiative aimed at bridging the digital divide.
