Renowned Pakistani news anchor Iqrar Ul Hassan has announced the launch of a new political party named Pakistan Awam Raj Tehreek, saying the move aims to bring real political change in the country.
The announcement was made during a press conference at the Lahore Press Club. Speaking to journalists, Iqrar Ul Hassan clearly stated that he will not hold any position in the party or accept any government office in the future.
“I swear by Allah and His Prophet (PBUH) that I will not take any party or official post,” he said. He stressed that his role would only be as a supporter of the movement, not as a leader seeking power.
Iqrar Ul Hassan said the new party wants to end traditional political practices and offer a fresh choice to the people of Pakistan. He expressed hope that Pakistan Awam Raj Tehreek would become a symbol of change and a source of hope, especially for citizens who feel ignored by existing political forces.
He further explained that he does not want any personal, financial, or political gain from this initiative. According to him, the party’s activities will soon begin across the country, and people from all walks of life will be invited to participate.
Describing the party’s structure, Iqrar Ul Hassan said Pakistan Awam Raj Tehreek would be a fully democratic platform. He added that no single family or individual would own the party, and leadership would not be passed down as inheritance, unlike many traditional political parties.
Earlier, Iqrar Ul Hassan had also made headlines by advising former prime minister Imran Khan and other senior politicians to step away from politics. He claimed that they no longer truly represent the thinking and expectations of Generation Z.
With this announcement, the well-known journalist has entered Pakistan’s political discussion in a new way, promising change without seeking power for himself.
