Dense fog has caused the closure of several major motorways in Punjab, creating travel problems for commuters and transporters. Authorities took this step to ensure public safety as visibility dropped to very low levels in many areas.
The Lahore Sialkot Motorway (M11) has been closed due to thick fog covering the route. Drivers have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and wait until weather conditions improve. Similarly, the Motorway M2, which connects Lahore to Kot Momin, has also been shut as fog reduced visibility to dangerous levels.
Other important highways are facing the same situation. The Motorway M3 stretching from Faizpur to Rajana, is currently closed. Motorway M4 from Khanewal to Multan has also been affected by heavy fog, making it unsafe for vehicles to continue their journeys. In addition, the Motorway M5, connecting Multan to Zahir Pir, remains closed for the same reason.
Fog usually becomes thicker during late night and early morning hours in winter. This can make driving extremely risky, especially at high speeds. Motorway police are closely monitoring the situation and will reopen the roads once visibility improves.
Travelers are advised to stay updated through official motorway helplines and social media pages before starting their journeys. Drivers who must travel are urged to use fog lights, maintain safe distances, and avoid speeding.
The closures have caused delays for passengers and goods transport, but authorities stress that safety is the top priority. Fog conditions are expected to ease as the day progresses, and normal traffic will resume once conditions become safe.
Until then, commuters are encouraged to remain patient and plan alternative routes or delay travel to avoid accidents.
