Field Marshal Asim Munir Attends Munich Security Conference in Germany

The Army chief met Admiral Renato Rodrigues de Aguiar Freire, Chief of the Joint Staff of the Brazilian Armed Forces. They discussed military cooperation between the two countries. General Rodolph Haykal of Lebanon also met him. Both sides exchanged views on regional security and ways to strengthen defence ties.

Field Marshal Asim Munir Attends Munich Security Conference in Germany

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Staff (CDF), visited Germany from February 12 to 14. He attended important meetings on the sidelines of the 62nd Munich Security Conference.

According to a press release issued by Inter-Services Public Relations, the army chief met several international leaders during his visit. He held a meeting with Marco Rubio, the US Secretary of State. They discussed matters of mutual interest, including global and regional security and cooperation in counterterrorism efforts.

During his stay in Germany, Field Marshal Asim Munir also met senior German officials. He called on Alexander Dobrindt, Federal Minister of the Interior of Germany. He also met Günter Sautter, Foreign and Security Policy Advisor to the German Chancellor, and General Carsten Breuer, Chief of Defence of the German Armed Forces.

The meetings focused on current security challenges, defence cooperation, and the importance of dialogue to promote global peace.
