The 35th National Games began with great energy and excitement as Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari officially inaugurated the event at Karachi’s National Stadium on Saturday. The ceremony was colorful, lively, and filled with proud moments for athletes coming from all parts of the country.
As the opening ceremony started, teams from Islamabad and several national institutions marched into the stadium in an impressive parade. This marked the beginning of Pakistan’s biggest multi sport competition. More than 11,000 athletes, both men and women, will take part in various sports over the coming days, making this year’s event one of the largest in history.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari warmly welcomed participants from Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Balochistan, and other regions. He said that the children and young athletes present today would be the ones winning medals for Pakistan in the future. He also expressed happiness that the National Games had returned to Sindh after a long time.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah also addressed the ceremony. He said hosting the National Games in Karachi after two decades was a moment of pride for the province. His words reflected the excitement felt by both the organizers and the audience.
The ceremony was attended by Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori, provincial ministers, members of the Sindh Assembly, the president of the Pakistan Olympic Association, top officials, athletes, and many special guests. Their presence added to the significance of the occasion.
