Gold price in Pakistan reached a historic peak on Friday, December 26, 2025, as the precious metal touched Rs. 473,000 per tola, the highest price ever recorded in the country.
The sharp increase comes from a combination of rising international gold prices and ongoing currency pressures in Pakistan.

According to the Karachi Sarafa Association, 24-karat gold closed at Rs. 473,000 per tola on December 26, marking a significant jump in precious metal prices. The price for 10 grams of 24-karat gold reached Rs. 405,530.
This represents a dramatic increase from earlier in the week when gold was trading around Rs. 273,000 per tola, showing how quickly prices can surge during periods of economic uncertainty.

The US Federal Reserve’s expected interest rate cuts and ongoing tensions in different parts of the world are making gold more attractive. While the Pakistani rupee has remained relatively stable against the US dollar in recent months, any fluctuation in the exchange rate directly impacts local gold prices since gold is priced in dollars internationally.

Pakistan’s traditional winter wedding season is creating strong demand for gold jewelry. Despite the record-high prices, families continue purchasing gold for weddings and celebrations.

“We’re seeing a double effect,” explained a senior market analyst. “International prices are going up, and in Pakistan, the wedding season is keeping demand high even though prices have reached levels many people never expected.”

“People still want to buy gold, especially for weddings, but they’re adjusting what they can afford,” said a jeweler in Karachi’s Sarafa Bazaar.

In contrast to gold’s dramatic movement, silver has shown remarkable steadiness, holding at Rs. 3,350 per tola with minimal fluctuation.

In the international market, gold is currently trading around $2,620 per ounce. Any movement in this price, combined with changes in the dollar-rupee exchange rate, will directly affect local prices in Pakistan.
