Actress Zara Noor Abbas has shared details of a heated exchange she had with fellow diners at a family restaurant after they complained about her toddler’s excited screams.
In an Instagram story, Zara recounted that during a dinner with friends and her young daughter, three people at a nearby table appeared irritated, with one woman giving her a “dead stare” and a man attempting to hush her child.

“I sent my daughter to the side and stood up to ask if there was anything wrong,” she wrote. According to Zara, the group told her the child was disturbing them, suggesting she should not have brought her to the restaurant, citing bedtime and “basic manners.”
When asked if they had children, the diners replied no. Zara explained that managing a toddler in public was challenging and that her daughter was not misbehaving intentionally. The group reportedly advised her to leave whenever the child made noise.

The confrontation lasted about 15 minutes before the restaurant manager apologized to Zara, and the group left. She expressed disappointment that no one from the crowd intervened in her support, despite it being a family-oriented place.
“Maybe this is exactly why we are dead as a community. We watch. We turn our heads. But we sit and eat until it’s our problem,” she wrote, urging people without children to be considerate in family spaces and avoid arguing with mothers over “manners.”
