YouTube has removed hundreds of AI-generated Bollywood videos after a report by Reuters highlighted concerns over celebrity rights. The deleted videos, which had a combined 16 million views, were similar to content at the center of a legal case filed by Abhishek Bachchan and his wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

The couple approached a New Delhi court to stop the creation and sharing of AI videos that infringe their intellectual property.
The removed content included AI-generated clips showing celebrities in romantic or explicit situations, including videos of lookalikes kissing or romancing. One popular channel, “AI Bollywood Ishq,” which had 259 videos, was taken down and is no longer accessible on the platform. YouTube confirmed the channel was deleted by its creator and emphasized that the platform removes content that misleads users or is technically manipulated.
The Bachchans’ lawsuit also challenges YouTube’s AI training policy and seeks $450,000 in damages against Google and websites offering unauthorized merchandise featuring their images. Some AI videos still remain online, including clips depicting Abhishek or Aishwarya in manipulated scenes with other celebrities.

India is YouTube’s largest market, with around 600 million users, and Bollywood content is among the platform’s most popular entertainment material. The legal action highlights growing concerns over AI-generated media and the rights of public figures.
