Renowned actor Yasir Hussain is back in the spotlight, this time with his new theatre play, Monkey Business, which opened on April 5 at the Karachi Arts Council.
Running until April 20, the play promises non-stop laughter, but it’s not without its share of drama—both on and off the stage.

The media night for Monkey Business attracted a star-studded lineup, with popular figures like Mehwish Hayat, Ushna Shah, Sonya Hussyn, Kinza Hashmi, Yashma Gill, Saboor Aly, and Ali Ansari gracing the event.
The red carpet was a dazzling affair, with celebrities showcasing their stunning outfits and showering praise on Yasir Nawaz for his standout performance.
Produced by Inkorporate Digital and LOIQ Films, Monkey Business features Yasir Hussain and Umer Alam in lead roles. The duo has been turning heads with their comedic antics, including performances dressed as women and dancing to Bollywood hits like “Saki Saki” and “Say Shava Shava.”
However, not all the attention has been positive. Social media users have expressed their outrage over Hussain’s apparent hypocrisy. Known for his vocal stance against international artists and projects in Pakistan, many are questioning his choice to incorporate Bollywood songs into his play.
One user lamented,
“What else can we expect from Yasir Hussain?”
while another pointed out the contradiction, stating,
“They criticize Indian content on TV, but in their private parties and dramas, they promote all the Indian songs, culture, and content—what hypocrisy!”

The backlash has been swift, with comments ranging from disappointment to outright anger. One user remarked, “This is the sad reality of so-called Muslims—they will die like this, while dancing.” Another added, “Pakistanis can only make good dramas; they should stick to that.”
